It goes without saying that the Ice Bucket Challenge was an enormous success. Our very own Scott Minor got to say thank you for the ALS Association as the announcer in this official video tribute from the national, non-profit organization.
Check it out, PBS sampled two audio clips from Scott’s College for America VO. Very cool. In the transcript he’s listed as Narrator but we know it’s Scott. Here’s the full video if you are interested in either this innovative program and/or Scott’s narration style:
For “Baptist Memorial Health Care – 100 Years of Care” we needed to cast a big voice… an important voice, a voice…for the ages. Someone that could evoke the Greatest Generation… and more. I think we found the right guy. Lest we forget, the right piece of music was also an integral part of this[…]
Speaking of Martin, here’s a nice piece that we worked on for Red Deluxe and their client, Youth Villages. Along with the excellent visuals, that’s yours truly doing the non-announcer voice over, with some really nice licensed music and subtle sound design.
“How young are you? / How old am I?” Remember that song? How about “Lay It Down Clown?” Well, if either of these songs rings a bell, then quit reading this post. Why? Because it’s too late. Oh, you aging, left-of-the-dialist. Your day is up. I bet your ears are still ringing from that[…]
Perhaps this is a better Valentine’s post than the previous. It’s got hearts galore. There’s even a heart in the trees! Plus it gives us a chance to show off some recent work – we cast and cut the VO and mixed it with a custom piece of music from Sellout. Once again, it’s a[…]
This summer we helped Red Deluxe produce these wonderful American Lung Association PSAs. The casting call for this job was wide open. Early on, we had a super raspy sounding guy on this. But we really needed someone unique for these spots. Now that I am watching these PSAs again, I can’t imagine anyone else[…]
He’s the Jan Gardner Memorial Award for Outstanding Radio Copy awarded to our agency compadres at Red Deluxe at this year’s Memphis ADDY awards. Check out these two spots from their award winning Memphis Grizzlies radio campaign starring our voice talent compadre Big Lou Johnson. Greetings :60 Game Night :60 PS. I photoshopped a lucha[…]
Yeah. We cast and recorded these elves. The biggest challenge was finding an elf with a Spanish accent. It’s hard enough to get elves in the booth this time of year but finding a Spanish elf who also had time for a VO session! Dang. That took a couple of calls. A Red Deluxe production,[…]
The assignment: write and record a school song/national anthem for a sports team that sounds like a huge men’s chorus. Demo it up in less than a week. We really had fun doing it. We listened to a lot of school songs. Sellout came up with the composition. Singers were hired. We had a concert[…]
It seems like we’ve been getting more and more requests for voice talent that sound “real” and “not announcery.” Of course, that can mean different things to different people. Here’s what it meant to one mad genius client of ours. Listen to “Keywords“ Credits: Agency: Red Deluxe Writer: Justin Dobbs
Earl: They got any more? Lester: Any more what? Earl: Any more work. Lester: Yup. Earl: . . . Lester: . . . Earl: Where? Lester: Right over there in their recent work. Credits: Agency: Red Deluxe Animation: Storyville Post Art Director/Illustrator: Kim Gurley Writer: Justin Dobbs
Listen to “CommercialAppeal” Even though last week was Elvis Week, we’ve had Elvis on the mind since back in July when we first started considering how to cast this script from our friends at Red Deluxe. Many many phone calls later we found our magic four Elvis “impressionators.” My fav is Elvis #3 who coined[…]
Casting is a challenging but important part of what we do here at Lucky Dog Audio. Consider these two recent requests for another round of Yahoo HotJobs radio spots: The Reporter: “First, we need a woman that sounds like the mom from Slingblade.” Being as accommodating as we could, we got Natalie Canerday to come[…]
Listen to “GRZGEN0619” So we’ve been doing spots for the Memphis Grizzlies and had an opportunity to go see how the big boys play NBA basketball. Unfortunately, on the night we went, they lost. But that didn’t dampen our day. There was superstar funk in the house… and I’m not just talking about the C&C[…]
So here’s a batch of radio spots we had a lot of fun producing. Once again, the old maxim “great radio starts with great writing” applies here. With that in mind, the voice talent did some exceptional work breathing life into these characters. Our Pilot nailed that cool, underplayed, this-is-your-pilot-speaking voice. Our Lawyer knocked it[…]
