Making Lists

Yarnell’s Peanut Butter Pretzel Blast :30 Holiday Radio Spot

This new radio spot produced for Eric Rob & Isaac asked our voice talent, Jennifer_132, to sound harried but not stressed.

VOICE: Smart, funny mom; upbeat, likeable and relatable – NOT irritated about shopping

Jennifer nailed the performance in her first take! Which is no small feat in any production.  And if you hadn’t noticed, this script features an epic ingredient list:

  • peanut butter cups
  • chocolate covered pretzels
  • chocolate chips
  • white chocolate chips
  • MORE peanut butter
  • chocolate sauce
  • whipped cream

Yum! And since we are talking about lists, how about a little peek behind the software curtain? Track-wise, in ProTools, our production list lined up like this:

  • VO
  • stereo music track
  • stereo SFX track
  • MORE stereo SFX

So our extra peanut butter in this session was mixing close grocery store sounds (the carts clanking and shopper walla) with another bed of faraway grocery store sounds (item scan beeps and overhead announcements).  This second bed (let’s call it MORE peanut butter) gives the SFX picture depth.  And depth really is the chocolate sauce when you are thinking about the audio spectrum in an overall mix.  And I am going to stop now because I am getting hungry.
